Project Analysis

The following activities have been executed in order to obtain a clear picture of the project:

• Contract between APD and “Grand Chief” Nana Atta II of the village Ekumfi Ekrawfo

• Interviews with key informants: “Grand Chief”, the village elder and external consultancy on crops and soil

• Development plan and cash flow calculation

• Competitors analysis. According to the latest information, there are hardly any commercial activities in the village of Ekumfi Ekrawfo. The present activities are comprised of subsistence farming activities. Instead of considering the people executing these activities as competitors, they can be seen as future co-workers.

• Market analysis. Similar to the whole ECOWAS-region, Ghana is a net importer of food crops. Ghana has favourable conditions for agriculture and has a lot of “free” land suitable for agricultural development. Both the local market and the neighbouring countries offer already a vast demand for food crops and live stock products.
