Integrated Farming Systems (IFS) Operations Manager                            

Africa product Development is seeking to appoint an IFS Operations Manager that will be at the head of all the production teams and who will ensure the effective functioning of all farming related activities in order to achieve the goals set by the company.

The IFS Operational manager is the key person for the daily management of the agricultural project in Central Region, Ghana. APD seeks a highly-motivated, skilled, and preferably experienced professional to serve within the APD team to drive the further development and organization of our IFS. Your analytic and management skills must be able to convert ideas and plans into results on the field. APD is a fairly small company which demands an entrepreneurial mind. On the other hand APD offers huge opportunities since the ambition is to grow fast and make the company an example of sustainable IFS in Ghana. The role requires an individual seeking an overseas career progression and huge job satisfaction within a unique and forever evolving environment.

Job                                                                  

• Carry out all farm operations including land preparation, planning and application of fertilizers, weeding, irrigation, post harvest operations and other day-to-day farm operations as they may occur
• Recruiting, training/instructing and supervising farm workers
• Develop farm operational budget
• Agreeing and organizing sales and purchases of livestock, farm equipment, crops and agricultural products, maintenance & repair of farm buildings, machinery and equipment
• Contribute to an effective marketing and business development process
• Keeping administrative records in relation to yields, quality etc.
• Monitoring and documenting all yields and land use to meet funding requirements
• Provide support in all practical matters
• Ensure that the projects are executed in conformity with the targets set in terms of profitability and sustainability to best deliver social and environmental returns

• Team orientation skills
• Continue to act effectively by adjusting to changing circumstances, responsibilities or people
• Ability to work under pressure, interact with staff at all levels and high personal integrity
• Must be fully aware about Agriculture Sector, crops, techno commercial aspects of Agri –Business and Field level orientation
• Ideally you will be fluent in both English and Dutch, although English is the essential language
• Experience in Africa is desirable
• Positive vision towards socio-commercial development in Africa
• Computer literate

Experience                                                     

• Farm Management - Essential
• Knowledge of IFS, organic agricultural techniques, sustainable development - Preferred
• A background in understanding arid conditions and use of irrigation - Plus
• Ability to lead and manage a large team - Essential
• Knowledge of all current techniques, technology and machinery – Preferred
• Agronomy skills – Preferred
• Ability to live and work in remote and basic conditions - Essential

Company                                                        

• The Hub farm is mainly active in Palm oil cultivation, Chili pepper production, snail breeding, aquaponics vegetable production
• You will be based in Ghana (near Accra)
